No, because he/she is not considered a commercial or professional user, as a farmer you are.

That would mean about half the farmers would not need one

No just someone that knows how to sharpen it,

I think @Princess Pooper was referring to the OP mounting a boom on the quad, then needing the appropriate tickets to operate a 'boom sprayer'.

Agree that it's a load of cr*p, but it's the rules as they stand currently (compulsory sprayer testing coming in soon for boom sprayers, not knapsacks AFAIA). Whether the op chooses to abide by them, is up to him of course, but it's surely right that he should be made aware when he asked for advice.

I don't think that would kill a very big field of pp, needing a dose rate of 5-6L/ha of 360g Glyphosate.

£20 for 5 litres of very dilute glypho is almost criminal, and makes the cost of getting sprayer certs almost reasonable.

Yeah, I know.......bad mood this morning. It wouldn't surprise me if a knapsack did need to be tested.....we seem to have completely lost the plot in this Country.
If I was the OP I would have just gone and done it......but now it's on a public forum

I can't remember, it may have been when I was told a few years ago, that it was a responsibility, but would become a must. I don't know the exact requirement now, but regardless most distributors will probably want to see something and won't take cash sales, so getting the chem won't be straight forward anyway

Better off with one of these, cant grow back if you dig the roots out

Environmentally friendly and keep you fit
