Its an aweful crop nobody should grow it, its hard to establish, flax beetle will not leave it alone, then harvesting the crop is an absolute night mare, just do not do it!!
it was rubbish I remember you telling me so!!My highest yielding crop of linseed was sown 27th Feb into a perfect seedbed. That was back when we had neonic seed dressings though so flax flea beetle didn’t nibble much. It took ages to emerge but did well.
Likewise re gross margin for us last year.spring linseed was one of the best gross margins crops we grew last year
have 250 ac going in this time
big rate of FSS, 75% of N in seedbed, herbicide them harvest
don’t spend on it
it was rubbish I remember you telling me so!!
Well thats ruined it!!!impossible to harvest
impossible to harvest
In the set aside days of long ago, grew some industrial linseed on a block of set aside ground. Bloody stuff grew 3 foot tall then went flat as a pankake. One field went through the chopper ..... big big BIG mistake, even a set of Simba 2Bs just rolled over the top of the chopped straw! Spent a morning with a haybob moving the straw off the headland then torched it .... did have fire brigade outChopping the straw....IDK about that fellas... Clive, did you leave it to ripen off normally or what?

Drilling into some chopped linseed straw with the Mzuri was a game last autumn, I managed it though.
