Spring wheat and ergot

Got a lovely 30ha field of spring wheat Cochise but it’s got lots of ergot in the sample???. What’s anyone’s else like?

Apply copper at T2 to mitigate ergot but it won't stop it altogether. Milling or feed wheat? That needs colour sorting but there are more choices about these days. Camgrain is the obvious local choice. Rands?

Did it come in the seed. Was told yesterday that some seed suppliers use a colour sorter and others do not.

Copper at earlier timings I find better. Yes, colour sorter is the toy.

As above, copper the earlier the better. With at least twice as much manganese regardless if Mn needed or not.

Don’t think it came in the seed. But when it’s all red and your not really looking for it. First time we’ve grown it as needed a third crop after rape failure.
