I'd make one personally. Stand up to being pulled out of muck etc better. four flat sides that pin together so they store flat packReady for a new sheep big baler feeder. Have managed with ring feeders but always a faff if the bale doesn't fit.

We had 4 of the bottom ones and they were pure sh!te!! Rusted away within 5-6 years and we’re heavy and awkward to move to, I can move 3 round bale feeders in my trailer at a time now.
I’ll have a look through some websites for a decently made square one as I’ve seen some online recently that looked better - maybe look at cattle young stock ones as they’ll be heavier made

1.7m diameterI have one of the top ones, which I picked up cheap from a local dealer who’d had a pair of them in stock, unsold, for a couple of years. I wish I’d bought both of them, as they are great feeders and leave next to no waste.
If I was buying today, I would certainly pay extra to have one of those, rather than a tin foil ring feeder that only really fits round a 3’6” bale tidily.
My mate has done similar for feed barriers. He said he had to take a deep breath before cutting first bar outIf you're on big 8 ft bales, get 2x 10ft gates and 2x 5ft gates. Join together to make a rectangular shape . Chop out a rail or 2 so they can fit their heads through to eat. If you want to be posh, use the propper hurdles with drop down pin. Think twice and cut once when you start cutting good gates!
Must have been lucky with ours as no problems putting together but that's how things are going nowWe recently bought 2 IAE feeders & they are poorly fabricated as well as being the wrong dimensions.
Bolt together 2 corners & use pry bars to line up the opposite corners to drop the rods in
Too short to get an 8' bale in
Too wide for the sheep to reach the middle
Won't buy any more of them

Have you tried turning the end round if there welded slightly off centre they'll be closer one way than other
The gaps aren’t ideal spaced to get a board on the bottom of o recall correctly. Ok a temp job though just tie 4 gates together and you have a feederIf you’re making a feeder out of gates to fit a square bale, would it not work if you just turned the gates upside down? Wouldn’t there be enough gap then for the ewes to grab the hay, and no cutting involved.
Just a thought, it doesn’t happen very often!![]()
