Square Baler Output - Benchmarking - University project help

I am currently doing a university project on machinery output and justification. I was just wondering what sort of outputs operators are able to achieve on average, for these size of bales:

Bales/Hour of...
- 120cm x 70cm (Quadrant)
- 120cm x 90cm
- 120cm x 130cm (Heston)

I understand there are many variables that come into consideration but any figures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Really got no idea how to answer this with any degree of accuracy.

Some merchants only bale when it’s dry ie no dew, and concentrate on bale weights. This limits your forward speed, and your baling time to 12-14 hours.

Others will bale all night if it’s for the powertstations.

Some paid by the bale / farmers who don’t want solid bales will do more, lighter bales.

Early straw is super springy so you can’t get the weight in the bales, late rained on straw is not so you can go faster and get the same weight in the bales.

So: 120*90s I would say 400 to 1000 per day.
An average day (for us) is 500 I’d guess.

I would say over a whole season I am probably averaging around the 80 bales an hour mark (have had spot rates of 125) Massey 2270xd all straw 8ft 500kg. Really to get a better idea you need to go on tons per hour! I know a contractor who is regularly averaging 100 bales per hour but they are only 400kg so no different to my 80!
