Just asking for advice from the wealth of knowledge on tff.

I have around 20 acres of grazing land avaliable at the moment but could search for more if required.

I am looking at putting up a 30 wide polytunnel for housing untill i can build a shed.

I have thought about calf rearing and quiet like this idea as I know a fair bit about the day to day process of this.

Does anyone else have any good posititve suggestions I would start of small and then slowly expand.

Thank you in advance.

Might be a good idea to ask which breed is best...?

Start with her x or bbx WEANED calfs the fussing with milk is already done thats all they need is feed, the plus factor to the both is there very quiet and as a starter youll have no probs handling them alone or if somthing needs getting in you dont need a army

What age would you sell?
I would have to have them inside over winter

To maximise the job yea winter them, buy at 4/6 months and sell between 15-20 (as bulling heifers) buy at there cheapest and sell when you can comand the most for them may-august (traditionally most people buy bullers)

Firstly, what is your primary motivation? Secondly, what are all your options for this piece of land? Some aspects of Farming rely on the economies of scale to a greater or lesser degree. I'd be very wary of a suckler Herd on 20 acres and especially anywhere near a polytunnel.
