Wont the farmer take it in he's field ?..isnt that sort of thing what the bps is for ? or is he a tenant which would be a different matter of course...
Yeah they should do to be fair there is a ditch higher up the high which would help and no doubt a exit into the field but the water just doesn’t run into it.

Don’t know them that well but owned I’d say.

The lenghthsman got lazy from what i could see, i used to go behind him to finish the gully or 2 that he missed each time ...i saw him reading the sun in his pick up truck for way longer than a normal break more than once.

I dont mind taking a shovel or even the mini if really necessary but where/when will that end .. miles of road is now just potholing or sinking even under the weight of modern traffic.
More planning fees, householders, council tax etc doesn't seem to help keep up ..i can only think .the money is wasted in admin etc.
i know they cant order the right amount of tarmac without wasting more than a bit .. ive seen it.

Same things as said in above posts it seems.

Same here, but local council do their best, keeping ditches clean, but hedges uncut, and as said tractor drivers these days seem to prefer using the verges to run on. Coupled with general litter, and farm plastic all over the place, it's shocking.
The roads of North Pembrokeshire are a disgrace the stretch from Crymych to Cardigan is diabolical there are sunken ares of tarmac in Blaenffos just past the shop which are more like sinkholes you either sway violently from side to side or you're launched off the seat even with tractors with cab and axle suspension. Between the NHS and the roads Wales will soon be a third world country.

what do you expect when roads designed for horse and cart now carry all that traffic .knock the bends off and put some overtaking lanes in
Well said couldn't have put it better myself. Add in the local imported "VIPs" who have no idea how milk meat or cereals end up on their plates that flash their lights shake their heads and fists at you and give you the Vs or flip you the bird and it makes time spent on the roads a complete joy some days. Oh yeah nearly forgot to mention the selfish prats that park slap bang in the middle of the only lay by for miles having a coffee and chat on the phone thereby preventing lorries or tractors using iy

Put an extra pound a litre tax on fuel, it would raise a lot of money and hopefully wean us off the motorcar. (We are all guilty of it)
And would it stimulate village shops etc and stop 2hour commuter drives to work resulting in cheaper local housing for local people!!?

I've put 3 tyres on my nearside front and 2 offside front, wishbone bushes both sides, ball joints, track road ends, snapped spring, 2 shocks, and tracking/4 wheel alignment all since last spring. ALL because of the roads, pot holes are like craters, some you absolutely cannot avoid, edges of the roads in places are also non existent, it was so bad in the village the council had to level the drops up with top soil....

One stretch of road had the top scalped off, tar sprayed and chippings put on it, didn't lift ANY of the sunken drains, so the finished level was up to 3-4inches higher than the drains, wrote a tyre off in the one. If the police followed me they would think I was pee'd. Constantly have to weave and avoid stuff.

Another piece of road that wasn't very old got so rough from patching they actually bit the bullet before xmas and actually re laid the whole stretch.

Uncut hedges force people off the tarmac, which then breaks away the edge of the road, gets some tarmac chucked in it, the hedge grows so more and before you know it you're off the road and on the verge.

Don't get me started on 'street furniture' i.e. braches, hedges, trees, bushes, etc. I've voluntarily smashed back some bits where I'm hedge trimming, I've left the crap there to make a point. Arrogant? Yes, maybe a little, but I'm fed up with catching aerials, mirrors, lights and kit on everyone elses arrogance! For the record I have a blower. I'm doing them and other road users a favour in the first place, if I have to clear up as well I'll shove it through the owners letter box!

No better round here. Not done any surfacing on our lane for over 20 years. The ditches are all full of rubbish.
Any amount of rain runs down the smooth road surface and if it's cold freezes into a skating rink.
Very serious accident this week on the ice. Police shut the lane for most of the day as the recovery vehicles couldn't get to the crash because of the ice. Another last week where a woman got hit by a vehicle slipping on the ice. Luckily only broken ankle!
A couple of weeks ago the road was blocked with a lorry stuck on the ice and medical services couldn't get to a woman who had died!
We seem to be moving back towards a third world infrastructure with many basic services.

We've superb & brilliant roads here in sunny Suffolk! The local Council have kept up with their obligations & the top dressing has been done in good time so there are very few pot-holes.

Biggest problem are folk who won't use the give way lay-bys & simply take to the grass verge. So this becomes a vicious circle; Mud, pot-hole, road edge damage. Tractors & wagons are just as much to blame here, just there aren't so many but they're heavier. At least their main moving times are when it's dry (ish).
Say good-bye to your road edges:(

Our roads locally are an utter disgrace.Potholes, disintegrating verges, broken road signs ,and I could continue. We manage to contribute £ 18 Billion to our overseas aid budget, whilst our own society & infrastructure crumbles before our very eyes.

it's the same in new zealand.
except we tar seal over the pot hole's .
so it look's nicer .
a standing joke here is .
the road's built by the lazy govt workers ,are still going .
while the roads built by the hard working private contractor's don't even get finished before they have a pot hole
