Amazingly I am surrounded by water on three sides of me and I am unable to obtain an abstraction licence. None of our own crops are watered but we seem to have had just enough rain at the right time this year but only just in time for the winter barley. The easier autumn last year was a big help with crops getting off to a good start and never really looking back. Wheat Barley and Spring Oats all grown for seed on a neighbouring farm have been expensively watered and look extremely well indeed, particularly the oats. You had more rain than some years? Or the cereals been irrigated?

Saw some winter barley on blow away sand near Scarborough dead yesterday. Don’t think it will combine for another week though.Have heard of combines started in Essex? Would this be droughted out crops?
