We have lost two roofs, so we are in a pickle87 A disaster you say, well a disaster is exactly what has happen up north it’s just a shame it’s to far to be noticed much . Still can’t figure out why they sent the army or what they are actually doing … anyone enlighten me?
flattened a lot of big beach up the road from here, a couple of cars under themArchive pic great storm 87 similar damage in places
should always have two ways of heatingThis is the only thing that has kept us going. In reality out the house would be unlivable as small generator struggle with heaters as it’s to much juice , not many uk homes have a working fireplace I bet it a shed full of coal
And then the rewinding tree huggers want to plant more trees above the natural tree line to save the planet.A link to some aerial photos of damage in Northumberland
Funnily, I suggested to my S London living daughter that they should have some candles and/or decent torch in the house... just in case at the very least. Cooking is not a problem on the BBQ apparentlyTurn the electric and petroleum and gas off in the entire m25 for 1 week that would sharpen afew viewpoints. You never miss the water til the well runs dry
A large proportion of the audience are still south of Watford Gap.
Anything north of Leicester is covered by the foreign correspondant.
Coming over the top from longfram to cambo on Friday A row of huge beech trees tipped over. The roots would be the size of my van. Guess they would be going 200 year old.flattened a lot of big beach up the road from here, a couple of cars under them
It annoys me that trees are allowed so close to the road as well. The forestry plant right up to the ditch and allow rogue trees to grow in the ditch which were an issue even without any falling over.Surely this has to be a wake up call to the fragility of the power infrastructure, surely all cables should be getting buried.
Trees, wind and cables are not a good mix,if our reliance on electricity is going to expand to the extent it will need to in the future big changes need to be made.
Lot of the poles about that were put in when the big push to get leccy to rural areas in the 50s & 60s. Seriously undersized to current spec.A lot of reporting I’ve seen the shows electric posts in very bad order, this is the very infrastructure that is supposedly going to take us forward in the all electric age.
Supports my thoughts that the UK’s electric network is not capable of more demand. !!
There will be an enquiry.Surely this has to be a wake up call to the fragility of the power infrastructure, surely all cables should be getting buried.

They are assisting in door to door checking on people but are 5 days too late, they should’ve been here sun/mon last week and had a field kitchen set up providing hot food and water for the vulnerable87 A disaster you say, well a disaster is exactly what has happen up north it’s just a shame it’s to far to be noticed much . I think in Sacandinavia you can’t have a tree within 50ft of the road or something like that.
