Got a Fergy steady bar that needs some attention, is it possible to heat and straighten threaded bar successfully, or am I wasting my time 🙄

I think you have got no choice other than buy a new one. Those fine threads will be stretched and will not return to their original shape. They can be tight at the best of times.

If you can't find a press, I would try a sledge hammer, with a piece of aluminum or a block of plywood or oak. Add some soapy water or oil to the threads and keep turning it in and out until you get all the binding out, or break it, or give up. Let us know if it was a waste of time or not.
