Strange pigeons

Back in the '60s, it was seed dressings. I was feeding my goshawk on shot feral pigeons from a quarry and it started to have fits. I sent the body off to the veterinary laboratory and they offered to do an autopsy for a fee. I said not to bother as I could guess. So they did it anyway. Came back BHC, DDT, etc, but that's not used any more. W hen birds die like this it is usually starvation, disease, or some form of mass poisoning (acorns). But cwis will blame farming anyway.

Anyone else noticing more than usual dead pigeons in the field or around the yard. I’ve seen a few in the fields and the combine driver noticed to.
Maybe - and it's a big maybe - Covid cross infection, if it originated from bats and it crossed to humans, then why not cross-over to
birds, taking into acccount the amount of scavenging off waste food in towns ??

Lets hope not, we have/had a chicken industry.

I'm not seeing loads of dead pigeons

If it was going to happen surely it would have happened in China, years ago.

Seen plenty here, a lot more than usual, did think it was a resident pair of peregrine but plenty under trees, assumed shooting was the cause but yes, they seem everywhere when cultivating. We have had an amazing crop of acorns this year so would explain it.

If so lets get some lab to make a covid cross infection that only affects the flys that sit on cattle!
