Broadcast stubble turnips 2 weeks ago into standing spring barley , had a nice rain and then combined the barley a week later. Turnips are up bit gone very straggly like cress , trying to get to sunlight. Will they be any good ?

Used to see this regularly when there was a fashion for broadcasting rape into standing crops just before harvest. If harvest was just delayed a couple of days because of rain, you had very leggy seedlings.

I've had this before from broadcasting into standing crops. Worse when I then had swaths of straw down in wet weather as the hypocotyl extends trying to get to the light.

They will be fine - I've deleted the photo but in 2017 when this happened with a wet harvest, especially early August, I had one of the best turnip crops despite this elongation.

No that was last years pic just showing what su did , it was not lack of n because it had 250 kg waste sweepings up fert on it,they never got any bigger and started going purple

Did you test it to find the SU residues or was that just the best guess? Which SU, when was it applied & at what dose please?
