Sudden loss

So sorry to hear of your loss. I think it's a very difficult to process sudden death, because you have no time to say goodbye, it's really hard for those left behind. My dad died suddenly, my comfort was he was at home in his bed, with my mum. I hope you can take comfort from the fact he was with someone he loved right to the end.

Not sure how to find words today. My Father dropped down dead yesterday, no warning. One moment he was walking with mum and the next he was gone.

Finding a strange comfort in watching the softly falling snow today

Keep safe
i doubt whether words written from a stranger on a forum will help lift your sadness and sense of loss but if he didn't suffer it would be one consolation.,as are the memories of happier times.
all the best @farmerm

That's terrible news , so sorry to hear. My father in law went in similar fashion, he was a vet and had just castrated some pigs. he was in the farm kitchen washing his hands and had an embolism which killed him outright, hell of a shock for everybody as we thought he was pretty fit.

Sorry to hear that, must be an awful shock for your family.
Lost my own Dad just before Christmas, sepsis did for him within 12hrs, he was not in great health, but we didn't see that coming. My point is that we at least all saw and spoke to him in hospital as he crashed, which was a comfort to us.
An instant sudden death doesn't afford that brief time to say goodbye.
There is little to do but keep going I'm afraid, and be there for your Mum, whose suffering is likely to be worse than you can imagine. My folks had been married 61 years, it leaves a huge void in everyone's life.
My sincere condolences.

It will be of no comfort to you now but from my own experience a sudden death is sometimes better than a long drawn out affair. My father had a heart attack in August 2019 and though resuscitated suffered hypoxia which has led to dementia and a perfectly healthy intelligent man has turned into someone I really don’t know or really want to know.
