Sumo UK Ltd

SUMO UK Ltd are a UK company specialising in the design and manufacture of innovative cultivation equipment for the farming industry around the world.

British designed and British built, all machines start life at our Melbourne Factory in East Yorkshire, giving us complete control of all we do.

We regularly attend shows and events throughout the UK and worldwide, exhibiting and demonstrating our machines and also supporting our dealers at open days. Our next upcoming show will be the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh from the 19th to the 22nd of June. We are situated on the 5th Avenue, stand 203.
Have a look at the shows and events page for more information on other shows and events we will be attending.

We also have a dedicated Sumo Genuine Parts Team on hand both at the office and out on the road visiting several shows and events. We believe when a customer purchases a machine they do so because of the build quality and design. Attention to detail and quality is replicated in our spare parts and is something we encourage customers to take advantage of.

We’ve been sent this photo from one of our GLS users- Just thought I would send you these photographs of a 45 acre block of cover crop, a fodder radish and mustard mix.

This was sown on the 5th of September at about 5kg per hectare using your GLS with the Einboc air-seeder straight into a wheat stubble. This was then rolled and a 0.12.18 fibrophos (a compound fertiliser) was then applied three weeks later. The results are very pleasing.

Needless to say the GLS has not only done a cracking job on the grassland but also on the arable land leaving a very level finish. :)

Sumo makes new appointments in Southern England

Looking to expand further the UK market with its British-built range of cultivation, drills and seeding equipment, Sumo has appointed GSR Farm Machinery in Ashbury, Swindon.

Sales will be handled by the Managing Director of GSR Farm Machinery, Geoff Reade.

Geoff has worked on the family farm in Oxfordshire for 20 years and the last 7 years have seen the Sumo system brought onto the farm. Geoff originally purchased a DTS, followed by Strake and Trio.

‘I’ve already formed relationships with local farmers over the past few years’ said Geoff, ‘and I’m keen to support those customers and also gain new ones. The Sumo brand is unique and I know first-hand the establishment costs that can be saved using the Sumo system, and I am very keen to promote this.’

The sale of parts and service of Sumo equipment for new and existing customers in the area will be handled by Beckett Agricultural Engineers Ltd, based in Inglesham. Geoff’s business partner Clive Griffin established Beckett Agricultural Engineers Ltd after working for Shrivenham Agricultural Engineers from 1984 until its closure in 1991.

Clive and his team are excited for the new partnership. ‘We have known of the Sumo product range for many years, and admire both the build quality and innovation in all they make. It’s great to become part of the team and we look forward to working alongside them and Geoff’.

Karen Wealleans, Sales Manager at Sumo is delighted with the new appointments. ‘Geoff has a vast knowledge of the Sumo product range, both from a technical sales point of view, and also as a farmer himself. Alongside this Clive and his team have built up a strong reputation over the years, and we are very happy to be partnered with them and look forward to a long working relationship.’

Geoff can be contacted on 07967 201552, and Beckett Agricultural Engineers Ltd on 01367 253060.

This crop of OSR was drilled in mid August in Ukraine.
The plant on the left was drilled by the Sumo DTS, the crop on the right conventionally established.
Only cultivating where the seed is placed means the soil retains moisture, giving the plant a healthier root and leaf structure, meaning it can survive the harsh winter.
Take a look on our website at the Sumo DTS and see how this machine can fit onto your farm.
