Sunglasses and ear defenders...

...are not a good combination. The ear defenders push the arms of the glasses against the head and the glasses stop the defenders sealing properly. However when bale wrapping I often need both  A cab with aircon and tinted glass ain't going to happen any time soon.

Does anybody know of a type of sunglass that would fit comfortably with ear defenders? Preferably something that doesn't make me look any more of a fool than operating a wrapper with manual controls probably already does.

I am not keen on ear plugs.

I tried searching the forum but sunglasses only seemed to occour with double beacons and twin ariels.

I know you will think I am daft, but I solved this a while ago. Buy a bath sponge and cut it in two. Glasses on, ear defenders on and then stuff the bit of bath sponge under the ear defenders. Yes, they still work.
Try not to buy pink bath sponge or you will look daft! ;)

If you are a long term wearer of glasses you may have experienced this problem every time you put ear defenders on.

The options are;-

Leave the defenders off and go deaf - a very popular option with some of the older generation.

Grin and bear the leakage of sound around the glasses arms.

Stuff something in the gap.

Wear glasses with thin arms, start with 'soft' new ear defenders, within 10 years your skull has reshaped around the glasses and the seal is perfect*

* this is what I have done.

Try the Bolle Contour, the frames are thin and flexible making them pretty comfortable under ear defenders. Pay around £5 - £10

Combine them with some FM ear defenders to help the day go by

What make are your defenders please Postdriver, I've been meaning to get a pair, especially now the cricket has started.
@clbarclay , I use Serengeti sunnies under my defenders, they have a nice thin arm and fairly flexible.

Seriously though, many shooters wear Oakley sunglasses if you've got the wonga. If you get the best fit you'll find that the arms are snug to your head and you won't notice them being squashed by good ear defenders.

They do make models with plugs built in but you don't like plugs.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
