Me too. I saw the first one on the farm yesterday for about 5 seconds. Much later than usual. At long last I have seen my first Swallows of the year on the farm. Very late for us here. Usually expect to see them about 10th April. So glad that at least some have made it.
I can't answer the migrating bit but I have seen lots of swallows in Australia, they have a lot more sparrows than I ever see here too.A question for our NZ & AUS members: do you have swallows and martins down there, and if so, is the climate sufficient to keep them there without them migrating overseas?
Had one with a favourite trick of hammering on the tv aerial on the chimney stack. That made an enormous racket amplified down the chimney and through the log burner.Have resident woodpeckers here. Still none on Horseshoe PassNone here yet, abit late.
I looked at last year's calendar earlier and, I think, they arrived here on April 8th or 9th last year - so they're turning up lat in a lot of places.I've not seen one yet in the peak district getting late for em here
