Swallows departing our shores.

Noticed a quantity of them around today feeding well over pasture land,I am assuming that they are off in the next 48 hrs or so. I will be sorry to see them go,but I think that this breeding season was successful for them.

Last week when harvesting beans upwards of a thousand or more were insect catching over the beans
Snack on the way south plenty of juveniles learning where to go from the adults

The last of ours went about 4 days ago, but I spotted a couple today, presumably trippers heading south, taking advantage of all the insects over the cows in this muggy weather.

Waggies are back , not sure if they were belted or not .

some swallows still floating about here. this must be the latest ever for them leaving. still plenty of flies later on in the day. expect the north wind will see them gone.

Saw some about today between thundery showers, sad to see them go, they never seem to be here long enough, brighten up many a dull day.

Dad said he saw about 9 today when he went to check the sheep....unbelievable this far north

Clouds of them and house martins here today over the sheep grass, well over a hundred I would say. Filling up before heading over the water..
