Swapping horns on Volvo loading shovel

We have a two year old Volvo L70. It has a horn on each side but is still not loud enough. I want to fit a set of air horns so the spreader drivers can hear the loader. I disconnected the standard horns and plugged the air horn onto the connector. Pressed the button and a short blast was heard. Did it a couple of times then it ceased to work. Is this because of canbus type issues? Should I have put a relay in?

I would imagine the air horns compressor will draw far more current than standard horns, likely blown the fuse.

I would wire via relay, using suitable power cables / fused supply for the air horns

I would hook them direct to a battery to check them and if ok wire in a relay as suggested , had a set on a Honda bike many years ago to long a blast would dim the lights 😂
