I think you are right it is variety dependent, in combination with conditions. Over here by the coast yr infection is the norm on many varieties earlier on, at the beginning of March yr could be found in both kerrin and gravity. ATM it would be difficult to differentiate between septoria and yr since the septoria always seems to follow yr onto the leaves. Doesn’t mean the yr isn’t there though.
We are very dry here in west Suffolk. Will keep monitoring. I did put phosphite and amino acids on along with nutrients after tissue testing. That whole school of thought isn’t very well researched though so is abit of a guessing game.

When I mentioned tissue testing to my agronomist he rolled his eyes and said “you can have a go if you like but fungicide is better value for money”. I would have questioned him further but he drove off.

Anyone whose a member of Niab have a good look at section 4.3 of the varietal interactions handbook.

The most valuable document NIAB Tag produce. Worth the membership just for this.
But ........ you still need to take into account local conditions. The fungicide programme for Graham wheat in 4.2.3 would be too much risk for me to take here. Be a different matter in sunny Suffolk :p

In the middle.
Table 4.3.2 margin over input cost makes interesting reading especially if the price of wheat drops. Table is work out at £170, if you drop that to £140 then the commercial treatment would hardly stack up on any variety.

This info is worth the membership quite a few times over. How many articles in magazine and supplements from suppliers have you read recently that are suggesting the commercial option plus extra T1.5s etc! Good advice is seriously worth paying for.
