No-one's mentioned the ££££ yet.............:whistle::whistle::whistle:
Around here 60 to 65ppw for non tupped ewe lambs. 70 to 80ppw for tupped ewe lambs or small hill ewes. Anything up to £1 per week for bigger ewes.

Some will pay more..... :scratchhead::scratchhead::scratchhead:

Edited to add: Above prices for fenced and supervised grazing i.e. drop them off in Oct and pick them up in late March/early April and no need to go there inbetween.

What would they pay for fenced land this far east in Wiltshire then? Not that I have any mind, as I've 2 local sheep guys already, but I'm considering grassing down some marginal arable land in the future. Easy access M4/A419/M5 :):)

I'd give you 40p per head per week, as long as it's all fenced with stock wire and there is mains water.

If not fenced I'll give you 20p per head per week and fence it with 3 strand electric. If I have to provide a water bowser then 15p per week, providing I can fill it from your water supply.

Water??? I've never even fought about water in nov till February. Does this make me a bad farmer. :scratchhead:

@unlacedgecko can guarantee I've never mistreated a lamb/ewe. I'd more than likely be told of for the risk of drowning in the winter. As I've said ^^^ everyone must get much drier winters than me. 2sheep inspections and a whole farm inspection, they didn't seem to worry about it to much last winter.

I'm not suggesting for a moment you are.

Please don't misunderstand me, I'm sure all stock on your farm/under you care are looked after to the very highest standard.

But often perception is more important that reality. If the financial and legal might of the RSPCA (amongst others) is brought to bear on you the truth very quickly becomes irrelevant, as it's simply a competition as to who can best convince the JPs. With their quasi police uniforms, made up 'ranks' and dirty tactics the RSPCA have every advantage. Hence their 98.5% success rate.

Thats interesting info. Whats the sort of stocking rate per acre then that allows them to stay for 6 months? Is that price for me looking after them?
