whats difference in tanco 868 and 968 loader

968 arms with be 4 x 2 box iron , approximately.

978 arms are folded plate , in a tapered shape , like 99% of loaders .

968 would be OK up to possibly 60 hp tractor. No more . I havent seen one in years . I'd say they were phased out in the early mid 80s ?
The 2 968s that I knew of , were supplied new on a Ford 3600 , and a MF 165 .

we had an 878 on a ford 7610 for years, it was a good loader. big long loader, much more reach than whatever the loader for a 100hp tractor is now. New in 1993.

I heard someone say one time the only difference between the 878 and 868 tanco loader was that the 868 could be removed in halves from the tractor, whereas the 878 only came off in one piece.

ive just taken a tanco loader off a tractor a 978 on a case IH, can quite categorically say they're crap, they sway like buggery and the brackets themselves compares to Quicke and chilton are more than double the amount of brackets and braces compared to the tanco, id say theyre ok for a tiny tractor but anything 70hp+ id not be too happy, they crack and break for fun and if you have a power loader it just breaks itself away from the rams, our second one was taken off last week as i didnt need to worry about the stables having an accident with it.
