Just been online to tax the digger and this came up:

“As the vehicle record shows the vehicle as being test certificate exempt.

You are required to declare that the vehicle being taxed is exempt from the provisions of section 53 (2) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 or is not a vehicle to which the Goods Vehicles (Plating and Testing) regulations (1988) apply.”

Can somebody translate into Suffolk please?

Gave up taxing mine years ago as it was always classed as a `special machine`= big money, and the tax lot would not change it to a ag machine. May be different now though

We've had similar problems over the years taxing our MF 50 mk2 loader...it was registered as a digging machine by the dealer when it was new in 1982 even though it came with 3 point linkage and no backhoe. when the matbro came in 1996 it went onto limited use to save the tax and we've had 2 attempts since to get it changed to agricultural, once when the DVLA offices were still open and again last year but the jobsworths won't have it, even sending them photos of the linkage and PTO in use and pointing out they are features not found on diggers. We'll have the last laugh mind, next year it'll be historic vehicle and zero tax anyway.
