I thought an ir had to stay on farm, you can keep it, breed from it, milk it, but it can only go straight to slaughter, that's as we were told 12 weeks ago, when we had our 1st one, had 1 since, both reacted to 2nd test, and now gone. First time we have gone down, 3 hfrs and 2 bulls, next test 26 nov, hoping that's clear, the next one just before spring calving, every thing crossed !

Our rules may be different. Our Dept has tightened up on inconclusives. They basically get one shot at a retest. They must go clear in 60 days or they are taken as a reactor, even if it's in the IR band again. That then puts you down again needing two clear tests. The aim of this is to encourage farmers to send off IRs to slaughter asap, so that one more clear test will get you open. It can soon get rid of a lot of stock for you, is the problem.

And guess what? The TB is just getting worse.

First time on this farm in my working life I have had two culls with lesions in the last three weeks. First one confirmed today, second will be a fortnight. :banghead:.

I'll have to have a discussion with them tomorrow, but I suspect I'll be made to do a test soon, but it won't count as one of my two clear tests, if it's clear that is.

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
