Sent a bunch of cattle to an abattoir last week.
I was emailed the kill sheet the same day. They , killed out well and better grades than I expected.
Even the Health Summary box , had "No Conditions Recorded"
All good

Today I received a letter from Animal & Plant Health Agency.
giving me Notification of one of my cattle having a suspected case of TB at the the slaughterhouse.
(APHA were notified by the official veterinarian at the slaughterhouse.)
Seems odd that they report a suspected health problem to APHA but don't put it on the health summary back to the premises it came from?

Had the same here when we had a case. Inspection at slaughter and histology of offals are done at different times.

It may not even end up being TB.

Then it could anyones animal that had tb???
No. In the case of a TB suspect) or other significant lesion), the kill number of the carcase would be correlated to the correct offal (assuming the lesion was in the lungs or head). Clearly, you can't just guess which beast that is from. As for recording offal rejections, some plants will have a system where they can be easily (possibly electronically) recorded against a kill number. In many the meat inspector won't have the time or facilities to do that.

If producers want that info and they aren't getting it, they should ask for it.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
