Tef20 starter

Morning, hoping some of the clever people on here can help me with an issue. I've just fitted a new starter motor and solenoid to a restored tef20, however it runs continuously. I have to disconnect the battery just to stop it burning out. It's not that it always engages with the flywheel, that's not the problem, It's just that it always seems to have power going to it and always runs. Any thoughts greatly appreciated

Either the button switch on the starter is stuck on or the solenoid is faulty,or the heavy wires are the wrong way round on the solenoid.
Thank you, I don't think the wires are the wrong way around as this has only just started happening,. I've checked the button and that's not stuck in, maybe the solenoid is faulty, although it is new. I'll investigate further. Thanks for your help

sounds like a dodgy solenoid to me.sounds stuck on

Solenoid be my guess. Replaced mine on the P3 with a new one, but it was rubbish and kept sticking, sourced a second hand original from ebay and its been spot on

1 problem being new 'lucas ' gear is shite quality.
Some solenoids are bolted together so sort of serviceable, others riveted
Rivets can be drilled, bolted.
