Morning, hoping some of the clever people on here can help me with an issue. I've just fitted a new starter motor and solenoid to a restored tef20, however it runs continuously. I have to disconnect the battery just to stop it burning out. It's not that it always engages with the flywheel, that's not the problem, It's just that it always seems to have power going to it and always runs. Any thoughts greatly appreciated

Thank you, I don't think the wires are the wrong way around as this has only just started happening,. I've checked the button and that's not stuck in, maybe the solenoid is faulty, although it is new. I'll investigate further. Thanks for your help
sounds like a dodgy solenoid to me.sounds stuck on

On tvo fergys there is a safety switch that plays up but I don't know if the diesel has one

Tried tapping solenoid gently with hammer?? To release

Solenoid be my guess. Replaced mine on the P3 with a new one, but it was rubbish and kept sticking, sourced a second hand original from ebay and its been spot on
It was a faulty/sticking solenoid. I have freed it with a few slight taps of a hammer and so far it seems to be working fine. Thanks all for your help

1 problem being new 'lucas ' gear is shite quality.
Some solenoids are bolted together so sort of serviceable, others riveted
