Telehandler vs. loader tractor

Hi

What would be the cons of swaping a loader tractor for a telehandler? I have never driven one.

Can't really afford to have both. It will be used to restore buildings, clearing snow, loading drill, all kinds of yard work. Will need bucket, forks and possibly man basket.

I guess they get stuck easily, but do they work in the field at all(stone picking, transport of gravel and pipes etc.)?

Special things to look out for on a used machine? Any advice on make and model? Max price would be about 30k.
I've driven plenty merlo, manitou and jcb, but never owned a telehandler.

I've a 150hp loader tractor. It gets everywhere around the yard without any shunting. It carries up to two silage bales, four round straw, or five quad straws at a time for feeding/bedding.

It lifts as high as the shed roofs here, and reaches across everything it needs to. It loads dung in fields that forklifts struggle to drive across, never mind work in. It pulls a plough, baler, mower, power harrow, etc. etc....

It has front and axle suspension, 50k, and is far more comfortable to drive loading bales in the field than any telehandler that I've driven..

Would I swap it for a telehandler? I'd rather test the functionality of a liquidiser using my left testicle.

What sort of weight would that tractor loader comfortably handle ?
I'm toying with the idea of going back to a tractor loader, but would it safely load a ton of grain in a hefty toe-tip bucket into a bulker ?

anyone got any experience of 4 wheel steer v articulated telehandler ?

a tractor loader does thave the advantage of much bigger wheels, therefore more grip and flotation than a handler

Friend has just swapped a JCB 531-70 for a TM320S. Said he wouldn't go back to 4 wheel steer, bendy bus does everything the old one did but in more comfort, and you've got built in side shift!

A tonne in a hefty bucket would be perfectly stable, but you'd need a bit more room to manoeuvre than a telehandler.

The bucket in the picture is 500kg tare. Filled with hen shyte it'll be near two tonnes. With a tonne of rear counter weight, I load a high sided Marshall Vesuvius spreader in rough sloping fields which needs the loader at near full height to tip.

With hindsight I should have bought the quicke q58 which has higher 2.5 tonne lift capacity than my 2 tonne q56.

It's narrow minded not to consider alternatives to your current business practice (or indeed any difference of opinion).

After careful consideration, a replacement loader tractor was bought and not a telehandler.

....... and I've retained the use of my left testicle.
what about the right one?:)

I have a valtra t144 with a q66 loader and can lift 2 750kg bales up and drive around comfortably with no counter weight. But round a yard there is nothing to touch a handler round a yard and if you have smallish sheds with tight entrances get a pivot steer. We changed from a telehandler to a widemann pivot 2 years ago and would never go back

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
