And if I could move the place 30 miles closer it wouldn't be for sale!If I had that sort of money I'd be on my way to have a good look round!

That was to orkney, it went up on trailers on the freight boat. But cheaper per m on the orkney leg compared to here.Thought the machinery ring were buying it and putting it up on boats from Aberdeen?
Put straw price up for everyone who normally bought straw around Aberdeen!
Trees stop you growing grain or grass. Therefore no trees.I was looking at this:

Seems good value per acre if you could get some schemes going and BPS stays in some form. Pretty exposed I imagine.
One question though. Why no trees? Do they not grow for some reason? Surely they would provide much shelter from wind and driving rain?

30 miles is a long way here in mid Wales. You're talking a good hour at least. Plus we have taken on more land near home and don't really have time to do the off lying place justice sadly. So what makes it so difficult its only 30 miles. Once the next generation comes along problem solved. In the meantime look for another farm midway to use as a base then you only have a 15 mile journey each way.
oooh thats nice to.......mrs spin has just caught me looking at farms......think i'dve been in less trouble if i'd been viewing porn
A bit more up and down than Norfolk!!!
The warping on the farm for sale involved hauling in mined silt from an ancient river bed by rail car and then spreading it over the farm 1ft deep. Hell of an undertaking
Yeah it was, I went back and read the article after someone said it was explained in it. That's around half a million cubic metres of soil! Absolutely amazing, it would never be done nowadays would it?The warping on the farm for sale involved hauling in mined silt from an ancient river bed by rail car and then spreading it over the farm 1ft deep. Yes. You fancy it?
Let's hope somebody can....Would love it, but can't afford it unfortunately.
That second house is the one of my dreams.....now, how to fund it?

This place has been taken off the market. Not sure if it's sold or withdrawn tbh.160 acres and a delapidated farmhouse just up the road from here 400k but terrible access.
