Please excuse my ignorance, what is 'warping' and 'ring fenced'? I haven't totally wrapped my head around your UK'isms. I only just today after two years on the forum figured out why you call prime movers or semi-trailers, arctics!:ROFLMAO:Thanks.

"Artics", as in short for "articulated", not "arctics" - that's up to the north.

I'd never heard of "warping" either, it's a funny name for it. The blurb on that land for sale gives some detail of what it is. Ring fenced just means the land is all in one lump, and you don't have to go down public roads to get to any of it.

Yeah I figure out the arctic bit, I'll have to Google warping. Cheers.

Warping round here was done by flooding the land with tidal water out of the river, when the water receded it leaves sediment which over time builds up your soil with nice silty soil called warp.
Wow, that seems like a huge effort. The river must have been awfully dirty to make any difference. Thanks. The history and practices in the UK are so different to here, I find it fascinating! Cheers.

They take bloody hours to paint*, and cost the thick end of £1k to replace when rotten.(n)

* Wouldn't be so bad if it was 'just' painting.
First it's the sanding, but oh dear, some putty has fallen out....replace.
Then, oh dear the bottom sill has rotted....out with wood hardener and filler.....
And after 100 years of paint the buggers won't open.....

As @spin cycle says....work of the devil.
Why not go modern and get them galvanized?
