The end of the line for MF

Keep hearing these horror stories about replacement gearbox prices.

Puts me off buying used and better buying something new with warranty.

Our autocommand got a tune up by dealer mechanic the other day and it's like a new tractor. Goes like sh!t off a shovel now. Just hope it lasts.
Steinbauer? Has it really made that much difference? I keep considering one lol.

Don't understand all the hate towards the dyna 6 or 4. Personally I find the dyna6 great for the jobs I've done. Conversely I never really liked dynashift- too many gears and overlaps. If you need that many a vario would be a better bet.
This iv got a dyna 6 and get on with it really well. I find it smooth and a good box. Always found the powercommand in nh's awfull.
Still to this day the nicest powershift iv driven is a mates jd 6800 so smooth.

Iv left where they had 3 8S dyna 7s now but 1 has had a new gearbox and the other 2 spend most there lives waiting for a dealers van or atleast turning them off and on again too let the computer reload… absolute f**king scrap I’d not have one given never mind pay the price tag for one
Why can they not get the software right now they do it all in house ?, I hope MF are going to give you some new ones with a Dyna VT gearbox

No, he said it was a solenoid in the gearbox was faulty.

Previously they had to go into gearbox to change it, now they can recalibrate it to suit tractor from a laptop.

It's always been sluggish on the road, but pulled really well in field. Now it's performance on road matches it.

It has been remapped too, it didn't make a huge amount of difference to be honest. It's always pulled well.

It's just the increased zoom from transmission that's changed it completely.

Every time they came out and updated the software It would fix 1 bug and create 3 more 🤦‍♂️😂 it’s a joke really that a tractor in development for so long has so many problems

I hope Mf are going to come to party & sort you out with these, was the software mostly to do with the gearbox & lift on it that was the biggest problem

Be surprising how many tractors get traded in with fecked gearboxes for new… might get less for the trade in but your spreading the cost of that big bill with the finance

According to drivers I have spoken to Dyna VTs drain a lot of engine power from the tractor, so you need say a 240hp engine to perform as would 200 engines with conventional gearboxes.

So fuel usage with VT has to be higher for a given work output?

Don’t they just open the engines up to compensate

Back in my teens I spent many summers days carting/cutting silage & hauling slurry in a 6290 dynashift and could never fault the box. Loved driving it. The man changed it to a 6480 Dyna6 (one of the early models) and I could never get to grips with it. However the Hexashift in the Arion, despite being the same box I found it to be far, far superior - quicker and smoother shifts, plus the " thumb shift " felt more natural than the " T bar " in the MF.
I know of a few life long Massey men round my way who have switched brands now due to issues with the Dyna6 box.
