Do you bang the square posts in or dig them in? How do you keep them perfectly square?

Yes theyre banged in there's 3 spikes on the post cap which usually keeps it square, sometimes move a few mm but nothing really when they're on good ground. It helps if the machines exactly square to the post, so you keep the post square to the cap if that makes sense. Very firm and better than concrete I think hopefully last longer, they only problem is losing the weathered point. I usually leave them flat but rasp the edge to chamfer. Otherwise it's hand saw time and very difficult to get the angle right.

Why expensive? I make box strainers with a length of HT wire and a Gripple with a fence post across the top. Nothing's moved yet.:)

It keeps more wood out of the ground, where it will rot off too quickly, especially modern tanalised stuff.:(

Using two strainers instead of one is going to cost more. That's without counting the time wasted hitting in the extra post!

@Zetor Do you drive all the arena posts with the Bryce?

I'm guessing the round walker were all dug/augered in?

Very nice job btw!
Thanks (y)
That knocker of your's must be a dream to use compared to our old one?

None of the posts are dug/augered all driven in with the Bryce, we started with 5ft posts but they had a habit of leaning over time we now use 7 & 8ft on the virgin ground and 9 & 10ft on any made up ground, with the 10ft there's more in the ground than out.

Do you use pointed or flat bottomed posts?

For P&R fences I use 7ft, its not much extra effort to drive them in and just so much firmer :)

Yes, its great to use, its been sat in the shed most of the winter as I slipped a disc in my back before Christmas, have some fencing to do this week so will be back in use again :) Pics to follow!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
