The French farmers are kicking off

Probably because there is much more connection to the land still in France.

We are disparate, dysfunctional and discordant on this side of the channel
Very sadly you are spot on. You would not believe the breath of fresh air I felt once we had settled here. You stop looking over your shoulder all the time. I really hate to see you all in the situation you are in.

How much better off are French farmers than UK farmers currently?

If a bunch of stop oil protestors did that, you'd want them all beaten up and locked away.

Someone wants to grow a set of balls and make them clean their mess up.

The difference being the French farmers protest against something that needs changed, and their methods often result in great success, whereas just stop oil are pointless

Similar to many of your posts, come to think on it 🤔😝🤣

No difference at all, both believe in what they are protesting against both look like spoilt brats when they pull stupid stunts and should be held responsible for the damage they cause.

The fact that you agree with one and not the other is irrelevant.

I think some of the protest are by young farmers, turnings village/town/city signs upside down. Promised a PAC payment which the government turned around at the 11th hour and trimmed. More over the principle of the matter and holding the Gov accountable rather than the actual amount.

One of the differences here is that as an industry we generally have the support of our population. Having said that I think farming there has a lot of support from the population but a very vocal minority say otherwise. I think normal people are getting fed up with all the bulls**t that pervades society now, at least I hope they are!

Emmanuel Macron once said France is a nation of "regicidal monarchists". "It's a paradox: the French want to be able to elect a king but they also want to be able to overthrow him at the drop of a hat,"

No one has mentioned it yet so I will ask how many of the french on here have completed a "conseil stratégique phytosanitaire" which we are all supposed to have done by 1st Jan 2024 then every 2 to 3 years after that?? We did ours last week and haven't had a bill yet but expecting 500 euros plus.

An independent third party agronomist (not someone you use already or buy chemicals from) looks into your cropping and spray records. They then make suggestions and/or point to weaknesses in your strategy.

Its an obligation since 2021 every 2 to 3 years so everyone should have had one done by 2024. Without one you will eventually lose your "certiphyto" which we need to buy chemicals.
