Am not a fan of Hunting, but am not interested in trying to get it band!
Certainly no fan of antis in any shape or form, but I quiet like hearing stories from the other side, and can appreciate their point of view (even if it's wrong most of the time)

Probably enjoyed the money as sab's are rewarded around £150 in cash for a few hours out in the fresh air and don't even have to believe in what they are doing. Bet there's a que to be a sab?

I think you all kind of missed the point of my posting actually, which was this. Basically I always felt it was possible to sab local hunts and yet still get on with the supporters, even have a bit of fun with them. I treated it as a bit of a game (albeit with a serious point from our 'side'), and I think some of the supporters felt the same way because some of them seemed really chuffed when they managed to outwit us, as indeed they would of course. I was always advised by my sab mates "not to talk to the hunt", but I just ignored that crap because I am generally a friendly fellow and I like talking to people and having a laugh with them, hunt supporters included.

Yes I am still anti-hunt, but these days I hardly ever get involved in a serious debate about it. I might, once in a blue moon, sign the odd petition or comment about it briefly on Facebook, but that's about it. The hunt debate is what it is. In my twenties, I did what I did. So what? That's just the nature of the beast that is the debate on hunting in UK. There are more serious issues now to focus on (mine being climate change - and no I am not commenting on that here). So, while having a bit of a laugh from those odd stories/memories I posted here, generally I've moved on. If you don't believe that, or just generally want to have a gripe, well fine. Up to you, your choice. Meanwhile, I am still going to behave politely at my end....

Lots of talk about toffs and hunting types who are totally up themselves ..... this is a scene from our local hunt some years ago coming through the coal washeries in the South Wales Ogmore Valley. Certainly no toffs but plenty of ordinary mining boys and other manual workers out.

I'll listen to any anti-hunting type who wants to discuss a hunting ban based on animal welfare grounds ... but .... the minute they bring social class in to the discussion I simply cannot and will not continue further because it's just such a meaningless and stupid argument to make imo.

Not quite £150 Some 'sabs' we found got £10 for a days sabbing. We offered them £20 each and a hot dinner to beat for the shoot and they soon swapped sides. Animal rights my arse! As Jim Royle would say.

In my younger days I once found myself working as a waiter at a hunt ball.The experience had a profound effect on me.Walking a mile in another mans shoes changed my outlook on many things.I have never before,or since,experienced such arrogance or contempt.And for the record,it proved to me that the idea that "old money" is better than "new money" is nothing more than a myth.

No, but done plenty of bars for YFC dances from village halls to county rally's and the vast majority were fine. One of the worst was a Lord Mayors ball, I shudder to think that a lot of folk there held prominent positions on the council.
