Exactly massage the figures so it looks like the apocalypse is upon us make it much worse than it actually is so people believe that there was nothing the Government could have done. Add in a bit of xenophobia with mutant varieties from overseas whilst forgetting that lockdown measures encourage further mutation. Then when Spring comes the death rate starts to go down and Boris and his cronies will have saved the day.
That's a new one. Please explain how a virus mutates when you restrict transmission.

Starmer is useless. I have said before on these pages I nickname him Smarmy Starmer. His own shadow ministers are as bad - very poor. Specialises in hand wringing.
To contradict myself a bit. Starmer I suppose, is playing the long game, he has little to gain atm by attacking Bozza head on. As he risks deflecting media focus from government incompetence and cronyism, to small spats between the Tories and Labour which would suit Bozza..

Obviously if you make normal transmission difficult and as these viruses are constantly mutating you then open the door to different mutations. Every year the flu jab is altered to cope with constantly changing virus.
I should have Google'd first. It's apparently copying errors, which are caused by more transmission, not less. Flu actually mutates more frequently than covid.

At least the WHO has reached the conclusion that the wider gap between the first and second dose of vaccine is not a bad thing.

The They who seek to misinform for whatever reasons (from political to frotty mischief, with a wodge of mental derailment in between) are going to run out of nonsense to spin.

Indeed. And today letting Shapps slip in maybe no holidays this year. Then to allow holidays come March, that kind Mr Johnsons. It is almost the nation is under the influence of Stockholm Syndrome.

And a first today for the UK. The Prime Minister of the UK today in his press conference stated it us illegal for any UK citizen to go on holiday. I tell thee Stalin would be proud.

I think the European slating of the vaccine was purely political

We will have the French contingent apologists for Napoleon next. As the News at 5 said The WHO are taking a practical approach. Is it better to have a vaccine or not even if it does have possible weaknesses. The answer is Yes.

I concurr he is not playing his correct role - letting the quite pathetic hand wringing Rayner and Dodds whittle on. Smarmy is politicking for four years hence. All of them pee poor.

I suspect there's a new policy of under estimating and over delivering , maybe

As for jollies we're at the mercy of the pathetic eu vaccination program , although I see Spain are pushing on .

If you restrict transmission by confining the virus to the very vulnerable (i.e. healthcare settings) then strains that reside lower in the respiratory tract are more likely to persist.
These are more harmful.

When the virus spreads amongst the asymptomatic and people with lesser symptoms then to spread it is more likely to evolve strains that reside higher in tract.

Effectively If routinely a patient in hosp A infects a patient in hosp B directly via say an ambulance driver etc then patient in hosp B is more likely to die.

If patient in hosp A infects patient in hosp B indirectly via visitor and then a thousand other people in community then visitor to patient in hosp B...patient b less likely to die.

That's the theory anyway.

Useful tip...... buy yourself a pulse oximeter, about £20.

If you happen to get Covid use the oximeter to monitor your Oxygen stats 3 times a day.

If the level drops below 94% get in touch with 111 PDQ.

Silent hypoxia occurs frequently with Covid yet patients don`t "feel bad" until they are heading down hill far too rapidly.

We now have a "remote" Covid ward where people are at home, but contacted 3 times a day by nurses as a check up and admitted if they begin to deteriorate. Had 130 folk have gone through it and only 4 admissions from that group.
