US-NATO war crimes in Libya

23 January 2012

A report released last week by Middle East human rights groups presents extensive evidence of war crimes carried out in Libya by the United States, NATO and their proxy “rebel” forces during last year’s war, which brought down the regime of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. The “Report of the Independent Civil Society Fact-Finding Mission to Libya” presents findings of an investigation carried out last November by the Arab Organization for Human Rights, together with the Palestinian Center for Human Rights and the International Legal Assistance Consortium.

Based on interviews with victims of war crimes as well as with witnesses and Libyan officials in Tripoli, Zawiya, Sibrata, Khoms, Zliten, Misrata, Tawergha and Sirte, the report calls for the investigation of evidence that NATO targeted civilian sites, causing many deaths and injuries. Civilian facilities targeted by NATO bombs and missiles included schools, government buildings, at least one food warehouse, and private homes.

The report also presents evidence of systematic murder, torture, expulsion and abuse of suspected Gaddafi loyalists by the NATO-backed “rebel” forces of the National Transitional Council (NTC). It describes the forced expulsion of the mostly black-skinned inhabitants of Tawergha and the ongoing persecution of sub-Saharan migrant workers by forces allied to the NTC and its transitional government.

The investigators report savage and repeated beatings of prisoners held without trial or charges, the summary execution of pro-Gaddafi fighters, and witness reports of “indiscriminate and retaliatory murders, including the ‘slaughter’ (i.e., throat slitting) of former combatants.”

The report exposes the human rights and democratic pretexts employed by the United States, France, Britain and their NATO accomplices to carry out a colonial-style war of conquest. It makes clear that last March’s United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973, imposing a “no-fly zone” and arms embargo on Libya supposedly to protect civilians from repressive actions by Muammar Gaddafi, was in fact used to carry out a ruthless air war waged in coordination with “rebel” forces on the ground

Of course they will pay for the damage, or russia will go back to the stone age,

putin is after a dominance of the World wheat market, that would be a disaster for humanity, also more oil, gas, minerals & dominance of the black sea. I'll take the nukes rather than try to survive the above happening.
There's not a chance in hell that they will pay, we'll be paying for that, you can bet the house on it!

We we had better double down then & kick them back into Russia, before they do any more damage.

But yes they will pay.

Final U.S. Troops Leave

The last U.S. soldiers leave Iraq, ending a nearly nine-year military mission. Since 2003, more than one million airmen, soldiers, sailors, and Marines served in the country. The costs of the conflict were high: $800 billion from the U.S. Treasury, with nearly 4,500 Americans and well over 100,000 Iraqis killed. U.S. troops brought the mission to an official close two days prior with a ceremony in Baghdad. Military forces will be succeeded by a diplomatic mission charged with overseeing U.S. interests in a country still struggling with security problems and deep-seated sectarian divisions.

Turkey now that is a strange country Secular Muslim, wants to join EU, member of NATO.

With an army of similar size to russia, One million strong & well equiped.

Happy to shoot a mig down, threaten ruskie ships but yet prepared to break sanctions.

What do we think to Turkey, I'm honestly not sure.

Greece has one heck of a navy too, Romania also very well armed.

Iraq was a warring country attacking neighbours, Ukraine was a peaceful country subject to attack by a neighbouring hostile country.

Who was Afghanistan or Libya or Syria attacking, I've forgotten?

Sept. 22, 2014: Obama launches a U.S. air campaign against the Islamic State in Syria, one month after launching airstrikes in neighboring Iraq. To date, the U.S.-led coalition has launched airstrikes on at least 17,000 locations in Syria since the start of the operation.

Afghanistan was training islamic terrorists, which attacked the World Trade centre in NY

Libya was behind the blowing up of a passenger flight over Scotland & the death of WPC Flecter. Gaddafi was a leading supporter of terrorism around the world.

I know little of Syria, other than putin flattened the place.

If the US coalition bombed at least 17,000 locations I guess they did their fair share of damage!

Finland's Nato ratification could take a year

a6e7b291-6576-4684-a444-35af9b85a6e6.png

Finland has been told by Nato chiefs it could take up to a year for the country to join the military alliance.
The government in Helsinki had been promised the process of joining Nato would be “smooth and swift”.
But Finland’s Foreign Minister, Pekka Haavisto, told journalists that Nato’s Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, had said the ratification process could take between four and 12 months.
This is the period during which the legislatures of Nato’s 30 member states would give their formal support for Finland’s application.
This matters because during the period between application and accession – known as the "grey zone" - Finland would not enjoy the full security guarantees that Nato provides.
Mr Haavisto said Boris Johnson had given a “very clear statement how the UK - during the ‘grey zone’ - could help us in many ways, including military means”.
He revealed Finland had been holding bilateral talks with France, Spain, Germany and Turkey to try to secure similar military support during the application process.

Germany had to pay to rebuild countries in the past. Was it from WW1 that they have just finished paying for in the last few years? That was part of the surrender deal so slightly different but I would think they will have to contribute if they want to trade as they did before.

I think you will find Boris has already said there is no going back as before, Russia might make reparations if it was defeated in Russia but that seems unlikely & if they were we may not still be around to collect!
The crazy thing with Finland now saying they want to join NATO is that it has to have unanimous agreement by all existing NATO countries & as with Ukraine this cannot be guaranteed.
America & the NATO leadership seem to take this for granted, I would guess Putin will be making very generous offerings to the likes of Hungary in exchange for a no vote, I hope Finland received cast iron guarantees before publicly applying to join!

Has anyone noticed or commented on the significance of BrianV’s username? Is the V significant here? A modern version of Lord Haw Haw perhaps.
Yes I've posted about this before, can't help thinking he's a fake and should be Brian Z, Lord Haw Haw or Mr Surrender perhaps.

Hard to believe a farmer could be so gullible ??

He throws in a bit of token anti Russian stuff but it's always Ukraine's or Zelensky's fault for not quickly surrendering, just like the Kremlin would love.

Perhaps I've been to Devon more often ???

Anyone in Devon able to do a health and welfare check ???

Should be easy to find, big red flag and all tractors with Z painted on them 🤣🤣

Mixed feelings, not a fan of Erdogan as he's too much of a "strongman" type for my liking. Think it's better to have Turkey onside, they inhabit a very important location in the world and as you say, not afraid to shoot down migs, which is never a bad quality.

Tractors are two shades of green & blue but no Z sign I’m afraid, maybe I‘m just not so gullible to take all the crap we are told at face value, after all our government would never mislead people would it?

If that were the case I think all his neigbouring farmers would have towed them away by now.

Seriously though, Brian is entitled to his point of view. Whether you agree with him or not, he is allowed and can express his views without any recriminations.
Sadly this is not the case in many parts of the world...

Who knows what you are but your certainly pushing for the Kremlin, this line can be found on many social media settings.

Yes even Western governments are far from perfect but they can get voted out, that bit you forget when you're trying to make an equivalence between Russia's actions and the West.

This is just like after the Novichock poisoning in England, Russia had lots of theories how Black was really White and those poor military chaps were just innocent tourists.

Any chance of pictures of said tractors then, you can never have enough tractor pictures 👍

You could add in your local paper at the same time and I'll return the favour with my Bobcat and the Squeak.

Anyone in Turriff area knows exactly the paper I mean 👍

So should Russia now invade Finland then ?

Yes they'll be voted in no bother I wouldn't loose any sleep over it, I know you worry so much about everything 🤣
