says he is paying £18 for a 25kg bag of spuds.
A quick search shows that in 1960 a cwt of King Edwards delivered was 25 shillings, so 75p for 25kg (if my maths is right ? happy to be corrected ) .

So, for those who understand inflation and stuff, were spuds cheaper in 1960 or today ? My instinct would be to say that they must be a lot cheaper today, simply because all food is, but 75p to £18 does seem a fair jump, albeit over 63 years.

Would it not be 1cwt bag in 1960? 50kg? I remember 1976 selling a few bags 25kg for £7.

I promise I'll resist :D.

The Harsh Truth is the cost of Fish and chips Takeaway is making it pretty uncompetitive nowadays Fish price wont be helping either.

In comparison (if you hungry ) love it or loath it at a tenner or so for a modest portion of chips and a small piece of Cod verse's Mc Donald's at £12 or so for 2 people and they do a reasonable cappuccino with that .

or another example Lou's on SM rugby club car park, no brainer if the timing is right ,
not the standard but the Exmoor Beast at £7 will be as filling or more as a good portion ,good protein as well.

strikes me that they could cut back on the Chips in the average chippy, because for me even a small lot bloats ......
