things that make you smile

My youngest.

Upon getting in late from work one night I was told said little one had just gone to bed but would still be awake if I go up to say goodnight.

Up I go and straight in for a cuddle.

“Dad, you smell!”
“Oh, sorry sweetheart, what of?” (fearing a brutally honest reply)
“Your tractor cab.....and work. But it’s a good smell.....it tells me everything is right”.

She’s a little darling.

Where's that?

Spotters' note: when very young, cheetah cubs bear more than a passing resemblance to the honey badger (nyegere), an evolutionary tool to put off would-be predators.
Maasai Mara. Really! they just look like fluffy teddy bear things. You just want to pick them up and while you are doing that the Mother sneeks up and bites your face off.

Yep, it goes as they get older, but when they're young they're silver-grey on top with the dark line along the side. I like the Mara, the Serengeti's 'little brother'. ;)

Make the most of it, doesn't last forever, mines 36 this year, but she, like yours will always be your little girl. And mine always liked the smell of EP90 oil.

Between batches on the drier today when i got a phonecall enquiring about an accident I’d been involved in that wasn’t my fault.

🤔

I said I was glad to hear from them and got put straight through to the big cheese for further discussion.

We got as far as where I was attempting to drive home from the pub severely drunk and rear ended the school bus before he eventually got arsey about “wasting effing time” and hung up

🤣.......but you said the accident wasn’t my fault.

Sending my eldest (who works behind a computer screen) to pick the apples from the 25 different apple trees I planted to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary 10 years ago.

Rather than turn up with a wheelbarrow or so of apples I got...

a single apple from each tree and a report on the number and condition of all the apples left on each tree.

Doh!

Checking sheep yesterday from the other side of the electric fence and we were three lambs short. There were several places where they could be, I had the dog with me so the electric fence is out of bounds to him, I would have to climb the fence on aching legs, (mine not the fence). At this point he spooks a rabbit which runs in a big arc going under the fence, he chases it but stops at the fence. Rabbit carries on running into the ditch where three lambs suddenly appear and run to the rest of the flock. Dog sits there as if to say there you are, I'm just so clever !

“ I have been saying for years they should clean the forest floors, trees fall and they dry and the waters stops pouring out and they become very dry and just explode”
