Things that would improve farm safety ?

I was thinking something similar, a risk assessment would show that taking dogs on footpaths can cause problems with suckler cows and calves, so dogs should be banned from footpaths.
They won't do that , public information is the only way , advise people of the risk and what to do if something happens ,
Stanmer Park East Sussex has cattle on the park and surrounding fields , they get hundreds of walkers a day many with dogs all over it , no information anywhere to advise of the risks

Trouble with giving advice is,you can end up getting blamed

2 died felling trees. Agricultural ? 1 lorry driver hits power lines. Agricultural ?
If cutting/trimming was done by farmer/worker to save costs and if lorry hit power line that was on a farm while doing service for a farmer - all of them can and should be classified as accidents in agriculture.
I'm surprised with number of people that died because of ATV's and livestock. Maybe it's time to put warnings around farms about dangerous animals so MOP's won't have a corrida.
A child killed by slurry gas and a man entangled around PTO are the most gruesome in my opinion. And probably ones that could be easily prevented.

Surely members of the public being killed on footpaths should not go down as a agricultural employment sector death? Same as people killed on farms whilst doing building works should go down as building site incidents?

Because the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is also to protect '... persons other than persons at work against risks to health or safety arising out of or in connection with the activities of persons at work,' and keeping cattle is in connection to agriculture, they will be counted.

If construction work on a farm was a 'proper' construction site with separation of responsibilities, with a Principal Contractor with written appointments under CDM 2015, then it would be a construction fatality. If it was maintenance work, or if the farmer was acting as the contractor, then it is an agricultural death.
