Thistle spray - clover friendly?

(y) reckon there's a good 3 plants per 10m².....

In the 10ha field, that could be over 30,000 plants:eek:

Think I'll get the man with the 24m boom sprayer in when the soil warms up a bit (and things start growing up here) thank you:D
can yer mow it ?? if so let it grow up till there is not major leaf under mower hight and cut it for balage/silage pre head
i'll look later but 3 per 10 square is not high seem to recall seeing a spray chart and it's x per meter before major yeild loss makeing it worth spraying with a low number it may not be worth it apart from feel good factor

Tried mowing it last year. Grass got away from the sheep so shut it up and took a light cut of silage bales. Seemed to cause the buggers to breed :(

I'm not organic, and the field was burnt off before reseed, but don't routinely spray anything. Mowing and topping is how i usually control thistles (cut in May, grow the next day, cut in June, grow again soon, cut in July they're sure to die).

These creeping ones don't want to be getting high enough for cutting to be effective. I'm probably understating the number of them per 10 square, it's really infested.

Has anyone on here mixed 24DB and low rate of MCPA to get a better kill on thistles without knocking clover too much. Did it about 10 years ago but can't remember what rate MCPA we used, thinking it was about 25% of full rate.
