Thoughts on raising better chicken?

Anyone raising these slower growing "better chicken" broilers? Is it economical? After many years think Ive culled one too many and getting tired of it. You do everything right and they still struggle especially in that last week.

I guess you need to establish whether you're close enough to a processor with a M&S Oakham / Freedom Foods slice of the market, if you're not I imagine your options are limited.

For whatever reason we don't seem to be struggling like you are, we've perhaps got a lower final weight, or lower protein diet or something, but I understand the sentiment, and if truth be told my heart's not in the job anymore. If I could do it all again I'd choose a career that gives me fewer plates to spin and less things to fret about. More days off would be nice too.
