Is that the right figure? It works out at >$164m dollars a day, can't be right, can it? :woot:
Or we (USA) could have just given every family in Afghanistan a cheque for a third of a million pounds and told them to behave themselves. 😁 However, its kept the US arms manufactures and aid agencies busy and plenty of people gainfully employed. (y)

Can't be right then, the world only started circa 6000 years ago for most of you lot over there... (y)

There is no political will to balance the budget.............has not been for many years.
Keep printing and let it be someone else's problem down the road. The last best hope for fiscal responsibility in America was the Tea party of a few years ago, pretty sobering.
If you want to scare yourself pull up the national debt clock website.

What will become of the NRF in their valley? Could they hold out indefinitely if the west airdrops food, essentials, ammo and weapons etc, and perhaps air support if under heavy attack?

I can't see that there is enough political will to help them out. They are against the clock and against an unlimited Taliban force, now that fighting in the rest of the provinces is over.

Even if they were helped, the Taliban would never accept them as a legitimate part of the new government.

Dont think the US would do it,as Trump will have probably agreed not to as part of the withdrawal deal. Besides, what do we actually know about the "Northern Alliance" ?

The Northern alliance is a group mainly from the Tajik tribes who are a minority tribe with in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a loose collection of different clans or tribes owing allegiance to nobody but their clan. They did until the Russians arrive have a King who had the groupings under a sort of control. He acted more as an adjudicator in the continual quarrels among them, which was mostly based on land holdings.
The Pashtun are by far the largest tribal grouping and the Taliban are mostly recruited from this group.
The Northern alliance formed in the late 90s in response to the Taliban seizing power and were never fully incorporated into the Islamic state.
The Northern alliance though has been notorious for both corruption and changing sides whenever the price is right. It is believed they have supported 6 different groupings since 2,000

They sound just about perfect for us and US to pour billions in arms and equipment into. 😁
