Tm getting warm

Hi folks.
Our TM150 gets hot to like 8 bars on the dash so like 3/4 up the gauge when working hard but it sits there and doesn’t get any hotter but normally it runs about 5/6 bars normally. It had a viscous van about 3 years ago so the viscous is working and it had a new radiator 2 years ago. Anyone had issues with thermostat not opening early enough? Or know any other places to look. The fan does kick in and you can hear it when pulling, it gets up there fairly quick in summer when the days are hot.
Thanks
Mark

Do not be fooled by what your gauge reads sounds, sound's stupid but check earths first, cab to chassis, as if this starts to fail gauge will read wrong.

Is the radiator core blocked restricting air also the radiator does not need to be blocked as a coating of dust will act as insulation preventing heat getting out

I had the intercooler off and all the air con rads and steam cleaned everything to death on our TM140.
I was astonished how much crap came out of the rad core given its regularly blown out with airline.
Well worth doing.
Id stick a thermostat in, it wont cost a tenner.

Had the Earth off and cleaned but no different. It does feel hot when you get out there he can you can feel the extra heat. It soon cools down when on idle. Head a new head gasket and head recon for prevention but it’s no better. I’ll get a thermostat in it this next week and see how it goes. I clean the rads with the washer regular as it’s easier than messing with the air line to get the crap out.

We have had two tm 120s, one was always running about four/five bars the other often up to 8 but never feels any hotter than the other one

Do you take the cooler off to clean the rad? If you cant pressure wash straight on then I dont find its worth doing as it wont clean it out properly and then the dust turns to sh!t and makes it worse. We use a road compressor and a made up blow gun with a 90deg head on it to clean them out.

It's very rare I've ever actually had a tm overheat, most of the time its an electrical fault as has been said

It doesn’t over heat to boil over etc it just gets up to 8 bars on the dash and then once full engine load has come off when you get to the top of the long hill it comes back down to 5/6 bars. I’ve washed the roads out with the air con and oil cooler rad out the way so it can blow straight through. It does the temp climb when on the combination drill when going up hill. Soon as I’m coming down it drops again.

Where are the thermostats on these? I’ll just put two on if i have to check them. For the price it’s easier to replace than test. I like drilling with the tractor so it does work hard when it’s in the wet conditions like it is now here.

If thats all that its doing don't worry about it. My 140 does that, always has done, she'll climb up the gauge on a pull and cool down on way back. Mind you its not standard...........
Stick it on to fuel and watch that going down instead!!! :D :D

I always chicken out when it gets to 8 bars and just let it have a second. Only needs a minute and it’s dropped 2 bars but thought it might be something easy to fix to keep it down alll the time.

Just under where top hose attaches on later ones so can’t see that a 150 will be different

Put new thermostats in and it hasn’t made a difference? It had a new rad about 3 years ago now if that. Any idea what to try next?
