TM155

Hi.my 2006 new Holland TM 155 is hard to start when warm. Have changed starter and battery but still very sluggish and sometimes won't turn over. Is always fine when cold and engine pours out black smoke when under load .any ideas thanks

155 won’t have an EGR valve. It’s most probably had the 10mm spanner remap if it black smoke or it’s an airfilter issue. Sluggish cranking when cold could be a load sensing issue on hydraulic pump and stroking the pump to full flow and dead ending the circuit.

Starter is brand new .heavy duty as recommended by new Holland. Battery is good. When turns very slow give it 15 to cool down starts no problem .

They're shite.
Get an iskra or whatever make it is now.
My tm150 was an absolute arse for not starting, new batteries, starters, earth straps, the lot.
Sorted with a geared iskra starter which my NH dealer supplied and fitted after my complaints about being sold duff batteries etc.

Never had an issue since.

I don't think the ones that new Holland recommend are as good as the Isreki (sp) that @ACEngineering supplies, among others. It certainly transformed mine although I would recheck the earth straps as it is also a common issue.

Did it start on when it was cold

If its not cranking over fast enough when hot I'd be suspicious of a binding starter, is it possible to swap one off another just to rule it out. Nothing wrong with dealer supplied geared starters other rhan they can be pricey. Mine will start on half a turn with a real flat battery if its hot, even turning over not fast.so it must be something big stopping her.
Possible its something jamming up when hot making the engine dour to turn, injector pump? Does it sound and run well otherwise?
Or water pump though I would have thought the belt would complain first. Something in the gearbox? Would have thought that the engine would fire before any pressure could build up hydraulically.

as said and I won't say it again. Mine was exactly the same, no bother when it's cold but if you stopped her when it was hot it just wouldn't turn over. If i set off home for the jump leads it would start when I got back. Changed to a geared starter and never had a problem since.
