Dumb question from a thick skulled yank,
But why does dirt that fine and mellow looking need to be plowed?

Not a dumb question, most of our crops are for seed as we have our own seed processing facility www.quantilagriculture.co.uk so we like to get a clean start when changing from a spring wheat to a spring barley or vice versa. We only plough in spring as our rotation will be something like OSR, WW, WW, Veg, SW, SB, WB
