Mostly pretty heavy ground around there? @Beef farmer was explaining to me earlier in the week... perhaps @Shovelhands could make some comparisons to the Essex clay he is more used to?
No not at all, it can go from wet to bone dry in a few days as it's free draining, some field have almost gone past the rolling stage in a few days as it's drying up, but like Beeffarmer I would dry up in the middle of summer if we had a dry month.

Well I’ve got no idea what the ground is like compared to our lovely Essex clay, but it certainly doesn’t look the same, this looks much lighter land to me, and it’s mostly all at some sort of awkward angle:confused:...... but I’m only looking over the hedges and through the occasional gateway........and I’m no farmer....so what do I know..:D

WHOA!

Am I seeing that - small child with totally normal junk food from a farm sale in his mush and not about to be hospitalised - what went so right - I am so pleased :)
Thank you :D
He’s been ok with wheat in small quantities for a while and luckily they had a burger van which did just lamb burgers :smug: he’s never even asked before! Even had coke ;)

Transferred a bag of corn silage to a silo this am View attachment 658936View attachment 658938I'm the guy here running the Armstrong shovelView attachment 658942I know it's only a 50 ft. silo, but I always gain a new respect for the likes of Fred DibnahView attachment 658946View attachment 658952had to climb up to adjust distributor, several times [emoji38]

Dumb question time. Why's it have to be transferred to a silo?:unsure:

The worst part of loading out of bags, cleaning the plastic up:inpain:

No dumb questions, in this case, older dairyman who has silos,and what feed doesn't fit in them puts in bags. When silos are empty he refills with bagged feed,for him and his feeding system it more convenient ie stand in the feed room and push buttons to feed cows, also saves getting stuck in mud trying to feed directly out of bag
@kiwi pom

Ah ok very good.
Never seen a silo setup working.
Good point about bags and mud, remember loading some out overnight when the ground was frozen when I worked in New Mexico. Still got trucks stuck:(

Somebody lost his head gear today first time I have found them like this, he now can get into the feeder with the girls without having to reach over the top.

Deer roaring in the hills behind here (y) can hear them if the wind ever drops :whistle:
That's a bit late isn't it? Especially as he looks a reasonable age. That is 2 months later than my first one this year.
I was thinking, early? ;)
