Today at work

can I pick your plumbing brain want to change the wood burner to one with a back boiler and link it into the gas central heating so when it lit it warms the rads etc and when it not the gas will ,,, is this possible without being to complicated

Hi

We did something similar.

Stove came with integral back boiler so that was easy.

Basically it was easier for our stove boiler to then heat water tank than heat our radiators as water tank has 4 different ports on it to accept heat from up to 4 different sources. I’m not sure how easy it is to have dual sources feeding radiators unless a header tank is involved.

We have a dedicated radiator also plumbed into stove circuit. Effectively this acts as a heat dump to dissipate heat once the water tank is hot.

We installed a pump in our system to pump water from back of stove up to water tank on first floor. However the pump proved too noisy and is not actually required as the pressure of hot water finds its own way.

Our system is great. Stove heats sitting room and it’s own little boiler, which in turn heats our water.

With sitting room door open heat from stove also heats hallway and rises upstairs to meet heat kicking out from heat dump radiator - result is little need to run oil fired boiler for radiators or hot water.

Installing pipe work from stove to rads could be a big messy job if it involve cutting into walls etc.

Its a bit complicated, there are 2 ways of ding it, the simplest is a Neutaliser, but have found issues with these others have installed in the past, simple way of connecting both together, but can be interesting to wire controls into.

This a good starting point

I had a little whoopsie a few days ago: started on a few bits getting the combine ready for winter, and managed to wrap the unloading auger round the big set of rolls:banghead: (It was dark, and I was only going to move it forward a few feet to get to the shed door)
I didn't get a good photo of the whole thing, just a few close ups to help with re-assembly, but you can see a bit of damage in this one:

This morning I've put it back on, having fetched it back from the fabricator in Southminster who could roll some new bits of steel.
Looks like new again! (y)

Time to clean the rest of it down now, and keep the spout in at all times:unsure:

I guess the tiny amount of Liberator that we sprayed on the wheat pre-em today won't be too late and have to be called post-em.

No more herbicide required though this 0.25 L rate will tidy up the rubbish.

They were the only plants I could find in the field though - been in 7 days.

The rain on Sunday has made the grass grow again - Zero grazing machine last in there on Sunday afternoon, quite a lot of new leaf since then.

Soon be thinking about starting at the outside again.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
