It's that time of year again...
Thankfully the 6420 we bought last year turns out to be a great starter. And with the one piece hood and a battery that has the terminals on opposite ends it's so easy to put the leads on.
The 6400 she replaced was a very bad starter. Put the biggest battery on that fitted, quick turning starter, didn't matter much. In the end we put in a block heater which worked a treat. As long as you turned it on eh.

Vicki treated me to a weekend away in the Lake District. Via dropping the Ford 2000 at its new home :sneaky:

Also got a clam bucket McConnell digger. Moving some soil in gateways so seemed a good excuse

Managed to find a little loader tractor for Vicki’s yard.

Needs bits doing but really tidy thing. Half the price of a similar Ford.

Universal went to its new home in Ireland today.

It wasn’t getting used.

Mate of mine lived in a remote corner of rural NSW whilst undertaking part of his medical training, and he was telling me he illegally ran his Landcruiser on something called "blue diesel" (might have the colour wrong) which was dyed rebated fuel for the mining industry? Would have been getting on 20 years ago.

Err, not quite. The mining industry, fishing, forestry, electricity generation ( diesel generators in remote locations, or as back up emergency supplies etc ) & agriculture ALL work off the same rules & regulations as "eligible off road use" & as such are able to claim a rebate which is the road tax component of the price of diesel.
Over the years I've seen diesel in many colours - red, brown, blue, white & it was even greenish at one stage. But that is more to do with what refinery it came from, or if it's winter or summer grade fuel etc. Most diesel now seems to be clear or slightly brown . . .
But no, we don't have dyed fuel that determines its tax useage, as such.
However, yes, your friend would have been using it illegally if the rebate had been claimed on the fuel & he was using it on the road.
That 1000 litre IBC I filled up was just "diesel", at a regular high flow pump at a service station. I paid the pump price. But, when I do the fuel credit portion of my next BAS ( business activity statement ) I will include it in my purchases of eligible fuel & receive a credit. Same thing as if I buy a bulk load & have it deliverd to the farm by a truck. I pay the pump price up front ( maybe a very slight discount for bulk ? ) & then up to me to claim the rebate at the next BAS.
PS - it is audited at times & I know of people who have lost their eligible fuel use status because they were claiming rebates on fuel used in semi trailers ( artics ) running on the road. Just in case you were thinking it sounded open to fraud . . .

How is it policed? Do you have to keep a record of tractor hours/offroad vehicle miles? There has been suggestion here in the past of doing away with red diesel for a rebate system, but it's always been shelved as harder to police than the existing system.

7000 update,
Cab got fitted just to make sure it does fit then the tractor was fully stripped down to a bare skid unit most removable item have been removed to gain easier access for prep and splashing some paint on,
All the removed item are put through the cabinet blaster apart from radiator fuel tank starter and dynamo.
We haven't blasted the skid unit for 1 it was too bad only a few areas of rust but this is easily got at and treated with a neutraliser. 2, blasting can create it's own problems further down the road and to do it right you have do quite a bit of prep before and after!
The black areas is the solution cured and reaction is complete.
Hopefully the next photos are going to be of a visual change

Note, the casting red oxide looks like rust in the photo but it isn't rust!!!!
