Stone curlew don't move when approached by tractor or man.
They have however had a good year on this field. The adult pair have reared two broods of two.

Had to buy in a couple of loads of 'tops' (the bales not excepted by the drivers taking them to Holland) which had got a bit moist.

But at least the straw shed is just about full enough now.

Trying an experiment - one half of the field in continous cereals, the other bit had 3 years grass and one direct drilled spring barley and has just had the top tickled to hide some FYM. Guess which is which
