I guess that was planted fairly early.

T0 here this coming week, then T1 is 10-14 days away.

Yes, drilled 20th Sept into a nice bit of dirt and after OSR. Rained as I drilled it and it shot up in a few days.
Despite recent frost, it just keeps growing.
A good half of my wheat won’t be ready for at least another week.

It is a good advert for DD, that is for sure. But that field is mostly what would often be described as “Boys land”.
Strangely enough, whenever we have ploughed/Min-tilled it in the past, we always get severe Mn deficiency symptoms. Absolutely none this year though. But that T1 had a bit of Mn in it in case the deficiency is sub-clinical.

I have got another field that was conventionally planted that doesn’t look as good as the one in the photo and some Heavy DD’d land that looks all over the place, thanks to Storm Alex that 1st weekend in October causing extensive pre-em damage. I have had to patch a bit more Spring wheat seed into a few parts of it. No point in much of a fungicide program on those few fields. But it is Extase, so theoretically shouldn’t need it as much.

The clever people are predicting some rain for the coming week for the southern coast of South Africa. Its bone dry but lets plant on some faith. Pasture based dairy farm. 3000 cows and additional roughage sitting around 120 tons dry feed per day. Its not fun. View attachment 955025
