Today NOT at work

OK..it was last week.... but so much more fun than the day job. Hedge laying in Devon! :)
I`m not thinking of a career change but it was very therapeutic!!
Took the thick stuff for firewood, burnt the brash, cleaned the ditch out.....farmer chap over the road is scheduled to top the field.

How come you (from Leicester) are laying some random hedge in Devon? :scratchhead:

Brother in Law lives just outside Axminster. We go down & "house sit" at half term etc to help out.
A family trust owns the field & the neighbouring woods which are managed by Forest Enterprises.
Friday night was my skittles league debut..... didn`t do bad with 7`s across the board, didn`t save the "Rousdon Rebels" from a defeat.....but we won the beer leg!
I occasionally do a bit of detecting down there as well. ;)

If you ever come across anything suspicious at Axminster, it could be something left behind from this Dornier in April 1942. (Uncle Hubert took the photo when they were dealing with the bombs at Shute )

@Red Fred fascinating stuff. I know there are a couple of fairly active clubs round that way. (y)
I don`t get much past Kilmington really, mostly on brother in laws neighbours land who farms a bit of arable & dairy on Trinity Hill, he`s a mate and normally skipper for skittles! He`s got some ground at Musbury as well.

The Dornier came down just a couple of miles from Kilmington.
Uncle took loads of pictures of it at the time which we have been trying to locate. One which gave us headaches showed two US Navy exchange officers standing on a Dorset Bridge with the famous deportation sign on it. After visiting every old bridge in Dorset, one of the farming ladies from Axminster explained that there were boundary changes in 1972 and a bridge on the Yarty (I think) ended up in Devon, so that must be the one. I haven't got to photograph it yet :)

Was at home left on my own, so mucked out my horses that have been deep littered all winter.
Luckily the little Avant fits into the stable, just.

Discovered the cows had no water, so fixed that and bedded them up.
Got the Avant stuck in the deep bit by the water trough, took a lot of riving to get it out...

One of the goats kidded, twins, they were a bit fragile and got cold so I moved them, one is under the lamp.
